33 U.S. CITIES HAVE PASSED ORDINANCES OUTLAWING ABORTION WITHIN THEIR CITY LIMITS.

The majority of Sterling County’s voting population are conservative republicans who want to see abortion abolished in the State of Texas. During Sterling County's 2020 Presidential Election 91.4% (584) voted Republican, 8.0% (51) voted Democrat, and 0.6% (4) voted for other candidates. During Sterling County's 2016 Presidential Election 86.7% (549) voted Republican, 11.1% (70) voted Democrat, and 2.2% (14) voted for other candidates.
During the 2018 Republican Party Primary voters in Sterling County had the opportunity to vote on Proposition #7 which read, “I believe abortion should be abolished in Texas.” In Sterling County, out of 356 votes, 251 voted in favor of outlawing abortion in Texas and 105 voted against outlawing abortion in Texas.
In addition to the consideration of these numbers it is also worthy to consider that one of the official planks of the Republican Party of Texas 2020 Platform reads, “We support the right of Texas municipalities to protect mothers and preborn children in their communities by passing enforceable city ordinances that ban abortions and abortion industry businesses within their city limits.” 92.3% of Republican Party of Texas delegates voted in favor of this plank being added to the Republican Party of Texas 2020 Party Platform.
